Am I alive?!

A red dot appears on the bell
Letting others know that I dwell
In this global domain of information
Of endless potential and temptation!

The net is cast and look who gets caught in its mesh
Thoughts, ideas and also those with flesh

The virtual world has its roses yet be careful of the thorns
This world may make you jubilant or might make you mourn
Bullying, fraud, it has it all
Friendships broken due to politic’s thrall

This digital mirror has an electric vibe,
the world is condensed into cubes of gigabytes
Some get it wrong and some get it right,
Many depart and many more alight

I tire of relying on cyberspace to confirm that I’m still real
Am I human or just a like! What’s the deal?
It’s easy to get caught in this web of illusion
Power off and come out of this delusion!

  2. Beautiful expression. People get so engrossed in the virtual world that they forget what is real. But reality finally hits and then many are not able to handle and just collapse. It is always better to take breaks and maintain the balance . Stay blessed always Harshi🌹🙏🌹

  3. This is a wonderful poem, Harshi. I like it very much. Thank you for sharing it. It sums up a huge part of the internet and virtual world in one fell swoop. I love the image at the top of the spider in her web. After all, aren’t we all trapped in a web or the [inter]net in one way or another—quite a scary thought? I do wonder and worry about what the next generation will be like. So many youngsters are already caught up in it already. Naturally, there is a time and place for this strange digital world of ours. I confess I’m probably just as addicted as some others. However, it does have its benefits too. I do so much online – shopping, banking, emailing, paying bills, blogging etc. I’m really very grateful we have the facilities that enable us to make best use of it all. I’m looking forward to reading some more of your posts and poetry. Ellie

      1. Thank you for replying to me, Harshi. Strangely, my comments have a habit of ending up in other bloggers’ spam folders! No idea why. I’m glad you found it, though. I hope you have a good day/evening/night depending where in the world you are 😊 xx 💜🌼❤
