Triggers behind a gun
Life being snuffed out so young
Pandemic eclipsing the globe
losing lives, losing hope
Two legged creature, rants and wail
But is he the hero of this tale?
Always depicting themselves as victims
When to forces of Nature they succumb
Taking oaths and making pledges
Yet discarding them all, he edges
Back to his sinful ways of plundering Earth
It is the only species which doesn’t think of its kin
Who keeps greed above all and doesn’t count it as sin
Why not construct something beautiful instead?
Why instil fear and why perpetuate dread?
This self-proclaimed intelligent being for its own sake
Must awake from its slumber, before it’s too late!

Hi! This is not a poem which I would have liked to post on a Monday but then I thought, if not now, then when?
I wish to give you the best poet award for such a wonderful, beautiful poem. ♥️♥️♥️♥️😊😊😊🥰🥰🥰. This is a heartfelt poem which beautifully depicts the humanity stooping to a new low because of the ongoing killing spree. Well done, Harshi. Very proud of you.

Great piece, Harshi. I often wonder at the supposed “intelligent life” on this planet myself. 💙

This is such a beautiful and poignant poem, Harshi. Human beings (not all) are the only species that seem bent on causing pain and suffering, yet we count ourselves as the most sophisticated. Even creatures in the animal kingdom don’t kill just for the sake of it or out of malice with evil hearts. Thank you for sharing this.

You nailed it, Ellie! I couldn’t have said it better myself. Malice is a dreadful thing to keep in one’s heart. Thanks for appreciating!
